Job summary

Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator for our Austin team to bid commercial projects statewide.

The role focuses on leading takeoffs, pricing, supplier coordination, and bid day preparations for TX projects valued up to several hundred million dollars. You will prepare conventional bids, oversee subcontractor bids, and perform post-bid reviews with Project Management to plan successful project commencements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an Estimator with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience estimating projects between $20-500 mil.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimator on individual projects including takeoffs, sub-solicitations, pricing, bid summaries, GC’s and final bid day preparations.
• Prepare conventional bids and conceptual estimates to owners as assigned.
• Review quantities, production rates, material quotes and totals for pricing prior to bid day and on bid day.
• Communicate construction techniques and strategies used in bid preparation with Project Management prior to project commencement.
• Prepare and assemble subcontractor bid packages.
• Ensure proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.
• Complete postmortem review of bid projects.
• Turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner.
• Assist in receiving and evaluating subcontractor and major material quotations prior to bid day and on bid day.
• Prepare and transfer estimate to budget.
• Oversee change estimates including change orders and construction claims.
• Develop and maintain cost history on different types of projects.
• Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors.
• Develop RFIs and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.
• Perform bid day analysis and scoping of trades.
• Create bid lists that fit scope of job and ensure the right subs for the project.
• Review drawings with Project Management and highlight areas of concern.
