Job description

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator I with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Senior Estimator will provide leadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex work projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects
  • Provide conceptual, detailed, self‑perform work estimates, and cost models
  • Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and submission
  • Determine subcontractors for bidding process and final estimate pricing
  • Assign work to estimating team and ensure accurate information is incorporated
  • Conduct quantity surveys, cost estimates, and review subcontractor proposals
  • Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits
  • Write and submit Requests for Information
  • Maintain regular communication with team members, owners, architects, and engineers
  • Ensure understanding of project scope and updates among team members and subcontractors
  • Research and analyze historical project data for current applications
  • Assist in selecting building systems and software programs
  • Assist in project scheduling
  • Lead, train, mentor, and manage estimators, including performance evaluations
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
  • Minimum nine years construction industry experience
  • Six years construction estimating experience
  • LEED AP, DBIA professional, preferred
  • Organized and detailed with proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills
  • Applicable mathematical skills
  • Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On‑Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
  • Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $128,200 - $192,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
