Job summary

Top Gun Staffing, Inc. seeks a senior estimator to lead complex heavy highway and DOT bids from plan review to final submission. This contractor-side role emphasizes producing accurate, competitive estimates and mentoring junior staff.

Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate, with a strong backlog in highway, structures, earthwork, drainage and utilities across Georgia and the Southeast.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of heavy highway or heavy civil estimating experience.
• Experience independently leading estimates from takeoff to final bid.
• DOT experience required; GDOT experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead mid- to large-scale heavy highway and DOT estimates from takeoff through final bid.
• Review plans, specifications, quantities, addenda, schedules, and project requirements.
• Develop detailed labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production-based pricing.
• Estimate roadway, earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, concrete, bridges, retaining walls, and related civil scopes.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing and identify scope gaps.
• Develop bid strategy, schedules, risk assessments, and pricing with estimating and operations leadership.
• Participate in bid reviews and support project turnover after award.
• Use historical cost and production data to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
• Mentor junior estimators and estimating support staff as needed.

Lead estimating for complex heavy highway and DOT projects from initial plan review through final bid submission. This is a senior-level, contractor-side estimating role focused on developing accurate, competitive, production-based estimates. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do

• Lead mid- to large-scale heavy highway and DOT estimates from takeoff through final bid

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of heavy highway or heavy civil estimating experience
• Proven ability to independently lead estimates from takeoff through final bid submission
• Strong understanding of heavy civil means and methods, production rates, crews, equipment, and self-perform pricing
• DOT experience required; GDOT experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid and Bluebeam
• Experience estimating multiple roadway and civil scopes
• Ability to manage multiple complex bids accurately and meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
