Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil construction estimating experience.
• Strong background in heavy civil, site work, utilities, drainage, or related infrastructure construction.
• Experience estimating earthwork, grading, underground utilities, storm drainage, and other civil scopes.
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ability to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating process from initial bid review through final submission.
• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil, site work, utilities, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
• Review plans, specs, proposals, and contract documents to identify project requirements and risks.
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, subcontractor scopes, and material pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Collaborate with project managers, operations, and senior leadership to develop bidding strategies.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Review and improve estimating procedures, systems, and processes.
• Support the development of junior estimators and department growth.

General Description

I am representing a well established heavy civil contractor in the search for an experienced Senior Estimator to lead its estimating department and support the company’s continued growth. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of civil construction estimating experience, with a strong background in highway construction, roadway improvements, bridges, paving, and related transportation infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to take ownership of the estimating process, work closely with senior leadership, and play a key role in securing and delivering major projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating process from initial bid review through to final submission.
• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil, site work, utilities, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
• Review plans, specifications, proposals, and contract documents to identify project requirements and potential risks.
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, subcontractor scopes, and material pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Collaborate with project managers, operations, and senior leadership to develop effective bidding strategies.

• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
