Job summary

Metric Geo, based in Kansas City, seeks an experienced estimator to drive comprehensive bids for major grading, earthwork and utility projects across the region. This preconstruction role rewards speed, accuracy and a keen eye for risk.

You will review plans and specs, build competitive estimates, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, develop bid strategies, and work with PMs and engineers to ensure a smooth handoff from bid to construction.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
• 3+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Experience with grading and wet utilities preferred.
• Proficient with estimating software (Agtek/TBC, AutoCAD, HCSS, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed estimates for grading, earthwork, and utility projects
• Review plans and specs, identify scope and risks, and create bid strategies
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors; evaluate and compare pricing
• Build preliminary schedules and risk assessments
• Maintain organized bid documentation and cost histories
• Work closely with PMs and engineering teams to ensure smooth project handoff
