Senior Estimator – Job Overview

The Senior Estimator coordinates estimating efforts, manages higher complexity bids, and provides supervisory guidance to a team of estimators. The position works closely with Senior Project Managers to streamline estimating functions and align with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and delegate incoming estimating duties to team members.
• Manage complex bids and provide final review and quality control over submitted proposals.
• Analyze plans, specifications, and jobsite visits to determine scope and required materials.
• Conduct accurate takeoffs and estimates using HCSS software.
• Calculate quantities for each project to factor materials and movement.
• Solicit subcontractor and material quotes, ensuring DBE/MBE requirements are considered.
• Create bid proposals and deliver them to owners or general contractors within required timelines.
• Determine bid results and communicate results with general contractors or bid runners.
• Assist Project Managers with post‑award project management and mentor junior staff.
• Lead preliminary engineering design review for deep foundation, retention, and related project elements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or at least 10 years of bidding and estimating experience.
• Proficiency with construction bidding and project management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to management, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Strong analytical abilities and problem‑solving skills.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Desired Skills

• Working knowledge of HCSS software.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with DeepEx / DeepFnd or similar preliminary design software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Manage a small team of Estimators I and II.
• Mentor, train, and evaluate direct reports; conduct performance reviews.
• Recruit, hire, and train new team members and facilitate cross‑training.
• Implement disciplinary actions as needed in accordance with company policy.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $100,000 – $133,500, commensurate with location and experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
