Job summary

LF Driscoll is seeking a Senior Estimator to develop and prepare construction cost estimates for healthcare, life sciences and data center projects in the early development stages and through Pre-construction. You will manage multiple projects, review plans, perform takeoffs, and solicit/subcontract bids while maintaining cost accuracy and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in construction, management, engineering or architecture.
• 10+ years of experience in Estimating, Preconstruction or related duties in general contractor estimating and purchasing.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel) and budgeting, purchasing and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and architectural drawings.
• Prepare quantity take-offs on Healthcare, life sciences, and Data Center projects.
• Ensure a complete review of plans and drawings.
• Identify items omitted and ensure appropriate accounting in the estimate package.
• Solicit subcontractor bids for projects totaling $100 - $150 million per year.
• Obtain 3-5 bids for each trade and supplier group.
• Review and analyze bids for conformance to specifications, price, material quality, insurance, wages, etc.
• Discuss and resolve questions with subcontractors.
• Follow approved estimating practices.
• Maintain current information on construction code changes.
• Use software to calculate, record and track estimates.
• Attend client meetings and resolve pricing questions to ensure satisfaction.
• Perform change order pricing, site visits, bid delivery and collaborate with teams on bids.
• Determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
• Conduct studies to develop standard cost data and reduce costs.
• Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database.
• Analyze completed projects to compare estimated vs. actual costs and recommend improvements.
