Job summary

Cone & Graham, Inc. in Florida seeks a Senior Estimator with extensive FDOT highway project experience to join our heavy civil team in Tampa. You will lead detailed cost estimates, analyze plans, and collaborate with PMs and field teams to drive competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience, highway/infrastructure.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS, Bid2Win or similar).
• Extensive knowledge of FDOT standards and design manuals.
• Strong analytical and cost-saving abilities with compliance focus.
• Experience in subcontractor solicitation, bid analysis and proposals.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed, competitive estimates from plans and specs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, utilities.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids for accuracy and alignment with requirements.
• Develop cost analyses including labor, materials, equipment, indirect costs.
• Research market conditions and pricing trends to support bids.
• Collaborate with PMs and field teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
• Prepare complete bid proposals and assemble required documentation.
• Align proposals with company goals and pursue new opportunities.
• Support post-bid kickoff by detailing cost breakdowns and assumptions.
