Job summary

Preferred Materials, Inc., part of CRH, seeks a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction estimates for complex civil projects in Florida. You will develop comprehensive cost estimates, evaluate risks, and craft strategic bid proposals in collaboration with operations and executive leadership.

You will guide estimating activities from concept through bid submission, mentor junior staff, and help ensure profitable project outcomes while aligning with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil and roadway estimating experience.
• Experience leading large-scale project estimates and bid submissions.
• FDOT and public infrastructure estimating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of complete estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
• Analyze plans, specs, contracts, and bid documents to identify risks, opportunities, and scope requirements.
• Develop competitive bid strategies while maintaining profitability and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with operations, project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to validate production rates and methods.
• Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and supplier pricing information.
• Prepare bid reviews and present recommendations to leadership.
• Support business development by identifying market opportunities and evaluating projects.
• Mentor and guide junior estimators and estimating staff.
• Lead project handoff meetings and communicate estimating assumptions and risks clearly.
• Evaluate design alternatives and recommend value-engineering opportunities.
