Job summary

OHLA USA is seeking a Senior Estimator in East Elmhurst, NY to coordinate bid documents, labor, subcontractors, and vendor pricing for complex bids. The role requires takeoffs, data analysis, and collaboration with Contracts and BD teams.

Ideal candidates will have a civil engineering/construction background with 7+ years in estimating, cost tracking, and site surveying; familiarity with NYDOT/MTA projects is a plus. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Related Field.
• 7+ years of estimating, engineering, cost tracking, and site surveying experience.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite; plan and spec reading.
• Experience with Primavera, HCSS, OST and AGTEK is advantageous.
• Ability to multitask across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and people skills; experience soliciting subcontractors/vendors.
• Local NY agency experience (NYDOT/MTA/NYDDC).

Responsibilities

• Investigates specifications, scope of work, and drawings to fully understand bid requirements.
• Performs takeoffs and calculations accurately and timely.
• Conducts field visits to gather data, verify production rates, and learn construction techniques.
• Negotiates best deal for cost, quality, and delivery with the buyout process.
• Understands contract documents and pricing risks; suggests mitigations.
• Interfaces with Contracts to address contract risks/issues.
• Helps develop pricing strategies.
• Coordinates with BD, Engineering and Operations to price and submit bids on time.
• Drafts proposals per RFP with detailed pricing and clarifications.
