Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Estimator in Tempe, AZ to join an engineering and construction firm focused on commercial and industrial MEP projects. You will provide detailed estimates for mechanical and plumbing scopes across projects of various sizes.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of estimating experience with a strong grasp of mechanical systems, construction methods, and proficiency in Excel and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical and plumbing estimating.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction methods for HVAC, plumbing, and/or process piping.
• Proficient in reading drawings/specs and identifying cost/scope impacts.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluate drawings/specs for scope, completeness, constructability issues, and estimating risks.
• Lead development of detailed estimates, including take-offs and subcontractor comparisons.
• Prepare spec summaries, pricing breakdowns, and VE options for major bid packages; lead estimate reviews.
• Develop cost strategies, pricing narratives, and supporting content for proposals.
• Participate in design-review and value-engineering sessions with design teams and clients.

Compensation: $85,000 - $155,000 base annual salary. Exact compensation will depend on individual experience, education, and related skills.

OVERVIEW

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Estimator in Tempe, AZ to join engineering and construction firm focused on commercial and industrial MEP projects throughout the valley. This individual will provide detailed estimates for small/medium to large projects across mechanical and plumbing scopes primarily. The ideal candidate will have, at minimum, three years of estimating experience with an advanced understanding of mechanical systems and construction methods.

Responsibilities Include:

• Independently evaluate drawings/specs for scope, completeness, constructability issues, and estimating risks.
• Lead development of detailed estimates, including take-offs, subcontractor comparisons, and internal productivity assumptions.
• Prepare spec summaries, pricing breakdowns, and VE options for major bid packages. Lead estimate review and scope alignment meetings; identify gaps, overlaps, and risk items.
• Develop cost strategies, pricing narratives, and supporting content for proposals.
• Participate in design-review and value-engineering sessions with design teams and clients.
• Present scopes and clarifications during customer-facing reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date market knowledge (labor, material, equipment trends).
• Mentor Estimators, provide QA/QC on their work, and support their technical development. Support transition of awarded projects to operations teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical and plumbing estimating
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction methods for HVAC, plumbing, and/or process piping
• Proven ability to interpret and analyze design documents, specifications, and addenda for cost and scope impacts
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• Experience estimating plumbing, piping, and ductwork scopes
