Job summary

We Search People seeks a Senior Estimator for heavy civil and highway construction in New Jersey. You will own estimates from initial project review through final bid submission, covering diverse infrastructure work including roadways, bridges and utilities.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specs, performing takeoffs, developing bid strategies and coordinating with management, subs and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience in heavy civil, highway, infrastructure or utility construction.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates for public and/or private projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, production rates, labour, equipment and material costs.

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project requirements.
• Review DBE, SBE and other applicable public-sector participation requirements.

SENIOR ESTIMATOR – HEAVY CIVIL / HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

I'm working with a well-established heavy civil and infrastructure contractor seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its growing team in New Jersey.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor delivering complex public and private infrastructure projects across the Northeast, with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to play a key role in winning major projects.

The Role

You'll take ownership of estimates from initial project review through final bid submission, working across heavy civil, highway, site preparation, underground utilities, roadway, bridge and asphalt paving projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil and highway construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, addenda and tender documentation.
• Complete quantity takeoffs, material and labour pricing, and subcontractor and supplier quote analysis.
• Develop bid strategies, assess project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with project management, operations, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Proven estimating experience within heavy civil, highway, infrastructure or utility construction.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates for public and/or private construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, production rates, labour, equipment and material costs.
• Familiarity with DOT and public agency bidding processes in NJ, NY or PA is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK and Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
