Job summary

Check Defense is seeking a Senior Instructor/System Operator (Computer Operator III) to lead EST II training at Joint Base San Antonio, TX. The role covers operation, instruction, maintenance, and quality assurance of weapons-simulation systems used to train Army personnel across IET, AIT, Active Army, and reserves.

The candidate will supervise instructor/operators, coordinate with government staff, ensure system readiness, safety, and compliance with Army standards.

Qualifications

• US citizen; able to pass a background investigation.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid U.S.-issued driver’s license.
• Minimum five years in military training or related technical environments.
• Experience operating computer-based training systems and Windows software.
• Experience delivering classroom and hands-on instruction to adults.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Fluent reading/writing/speaking of English.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site Point of Contact for the EST II program.
• Coordinate with Government representatives, CORs, and training stakeholders.
• Monitor operation, sustainment, scheduling, and utilization of EST II facilities.
• Provide guidance and technical oversight to instructor/operators.
• Participate in management meetings, AARs, and status briefings.
• Develop and implement quality control, safety, and procedures.
• Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate instructor-led training per POI.
• Conduct BRM instruction and weapons familiarization exercises.
• Train Soldiers and personnel on EST II operations.
• Conduct instructor certification and QA evaluations.
• Assess trainee performance and provide remedial instruction.
• Train-the-trainer to independently operate EST II systems.
• Operate EST II control stations and manage sequencing.
• Support AARs with performance data presentation.
• Advise on simulator capabilities and procedures.
• Ensure training systems are operational and mission-ready.
• Perform preventive maintenance on simulators and AV systems.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues; maintain records.
• Upload data to Army tracking systems (TS-MATS).
• Maintain clean, organized training facilities.
