Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions seeks an ESH Manager to develop, implement, and maintain an environmental, safety, and health program aligned with regulatory requirements and contract strategies. The role leads a team of safety officers, collaborates with customers, and drives continuous improvement across all contract activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety/environmental or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in an ESH role or equivalent without a Bachelor's degree (older candidates).
• At least 3 years of experience directly managing ESH personnel.
• Must possess current HAZWOPER training/certification.
• Ability to develop and implement ESH plans tailored to site requirements.
• Demonstrated efforts to stay current on ESH standards, tools and resources.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including policy drafting and training.
• Proficiency in monitoring, budgeting, and resource optimization.

Responsibilities

• Acts as primary point of contact for all contract safety, environmental, and health (ESH) issues.
• Coordinates with the customer’s ESH representative to apply best practices.
• Implements safety training programs for site employees.
• Develops ESH plans and implements ISO 45001/14001 practices where practical.
• Manages SDS tracking and access with Program Manager and customer personnel.
• Uses safety metrics to drive incident reduction and improved performance.
• Leads audits, investigations, training, and incident reporting processes.
• Oversees PPE and equipment programs and annual OSHA 300 log maintenance.
• Allocates 25% of time to field education and inspections.
• Collaborates with HR and PM on workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.
