Job description

This position is responsible for providing high-level technical expertise and developing solutions using Oracle Peoplesoft Development tools and related technologies with the goal of providing the Pepperdine Community with a stable, reliable, and easy-to-use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The role may provide mentorship to junior developers.

Duties

  1. INNOVATION AND SOLUTIONS: Responsible for developing and maintaining interfaces to and from the Peoplesoft ERP system. Leads design efforts for new programs and processes. Designs custom processes and components, or adapts third-party integrations or other packaged applications. The design process may involve learning software packages and evaluating the available configuration options to meet business needs/requirements. Works on multiple projects and participates in the project planning process with stakeholders and team members. Leads small to medium projects.
  2. SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting to resolve system issues. Responsible for high-level support and troubleshooting of all issues related to functional processes.
  3. APPLICATION AND DATA MANAGEMENT: Plans for and implements major system upgrades, including PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) upgrade cycles, PeopleSoft Tools upgrades, and implementations of new features or modules delivered by Oracle Peoplesoft.
  4. COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS: Represents Pepperdine and IT in a professional manner when collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with campus personnel and departments, as well as with external vendors and service providers, to assure current and future operational success. This position works closely with Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Functional Analysts and with the core (end) user groups.
  5. ADMINISTRATION: Reviews and submits regular paperwork and processes, such as status reports, bi-weekly or monthly timesheets, assessments for mid-year and annual reviews, and other routine IT and University practices. Adheres to the University, IT, and EIS policies and procedures.
  6. COLLABORATION: Provides backup support and assistance to other team members. Collaborates with co-workers and University colleagues on departmental, division-wide, and institutional projects. Shares process information and makes informal recommendations on how to improve processes and overall job execution within the team/department.
  7. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Attends training sessions, vendor presentations, user group meetings, conferences, and seminars. Engages regularly in individual professional development related activities to remain current with industry technology trends and work processes.
  8. COMMITTEES AND BEYOND JOB DUTIES: Volunteers to undertake tasks that stretch the employee's capabilities. Serves on various committees within the Information Technology division. Participates in external University committees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  9. UNIVERSITY MISSION: Understands and supports the Christian mission of the University. Upholds the University mission through team, location, atmosphere, and work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and three (3) years of experience, or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, and two (2) years of experience. At least three (3) years of programming Oracle Peoplesoft ERP systems. Strong knowledge of programming techniques and software design using Peoplesoft Peopletools 8.5+ Development Environment; Peoplecode, Application Engine, Component Interfaces, XML/BI Publisher, Integration Broker, WebServices Integration (SOAP/REST), SQR/SQC, SQL, and DMS scripting. Experience in analysis, design, testing, documentation, modification and upgrade enterprise-wide PeopleSoft applications. Strong collaboration, analytical, and problem solving skills; Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; Independent and self-motivated with ability to handle multiple tasks and work as part of a team.

Preferred: PeopleSoft (FSCM/HRMS/CSM) version 9.2. Experience with Linux OS. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Familiarity with Google collaboration tools. Familiarity with Asana.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
