Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking an Equipment Operator III to maintain highways, roadways and structures across the Dickinson District, including snow and ice control. Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, installing signs and guardrails, and performing routine maintenance on road infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years work experience at Equipment Operator II level.
• Three years of work experience with heavy equipment operations, highway maintenance or construction-related work with a class A driver’s license with air brakes and cargo tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway, roadway and structure maintenance tasks including heavy equipment and basic snow/ice control.
• Install, repair and maintain highway signs and guardrails; operate power tools.
• Complete building and ground maintenance, routine maintenance of roadway and radio system equipment.
• Maintain paperwork: time records, daily diary, road reports, etc.
• Perform construction project duties and respond to emergencies; may report within 30 minutes during emergencies.
