Job summary

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist to join the Maryland Poison Center. You will lead epidemiologic data management, analyses, and surveillance activities to inform poison control efforts and public health decisions.

The role requires mastery of epidemiology and biostatistics, experience with SAS/R/STATA, and ability to develop dashboards and communicate complex findings to diverse stakeholders within Maryland and national partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, public health, health sciences or services.
• Two (2) years of experience analyzing studies using a range statistical techniques in a related environment.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA).

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and technical expertise in managing and examining data for epidemiologic/public health programs and projects.
• Design and implement surveys and meta-analyses; collect and document comprehensive data.
• Perform data analysis, write reports, and prepare presentations of summarized statistical findings.
• Analyze poison exposure data to detect public health threats, identify trends, and support decision-making.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and data visualization tools to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with poison center staff, public health officials, and national partners on surveillance and response efforts.
