Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL seeks a Principal EO/IR Systems Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. You will design, develop, test electro‑optical systems, perform MBSE, develop performance models, and work with suppliers. The role is on‑site with a 9/80 schedule and no hybrid/remote options.

Requires STEM degree and experience with EO/IR, requirements tracing, and system‑level architecture. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related professional/military engineering experience (Bachelor's).
• 3 years with a Master’s or 1 year with a PhD in engineering.
• Knowledge of EO/IR phenomenology.
• Experience deriving and tracing requirements from system to component.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with internal/external reps.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop EO/IR systems architectures and perform HW/SW integration.
• Allocate, flow down and verify requirements across the system.
• Conduct trade studies and evaluate TRL for supplier offerings.
• Perform MBSE and model interfaces, behaviors and structures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate mission planning and platform objectives.
• Develop supplier documentation and evaluate supplier performance.
