Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Senior Instrument Technical Program Manager to own the end-to-end delivery of EO/IR remote sensing instruments. This role sits at the intersection of systems, hardware, and mission management, driving the integrated master schedule, budget, and risk posture from concept through testing and flight delivery.

The ideal candidate has deep technical background in space-based optical payloads and proven program execution in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. and 3+ years of experience developing imaging systems and infrared remote sensing instruments within a multi-disciplinary environment.
• M.S. and 6+ years industry experience; or B.S. and 8+ years industry experience; at least 3+ years in a technical program management or engineering leadership role.
• Direct technical experience with LEO EO/IR remote sensing instruments, including sensor architectures, FPAs, and IDCAs.
• Expert-level proficiency in program management tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project or Smartsheet) with ability to build logic-linked schedules and critical path analyses.
• Familiarity with structured root cause analysis methodologies in hardware environments.
• Exceptional communication, organization, and presentation skills for a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the integrated master schedule, budget, and risk register for the EO/IR instrument, driving risk mitigation and change control boards.
• Partner with the Instrument Systems Engineer to translate architectures and ICDs into executable plans and manage design review preparation (PDR/CDR).
• Serve as primary interface to Mission TPM and Spacecraft TPM for seamless vehicle integration and requirement verification.
• Coordinate internal resources and external vendors to secure optical/optomechanical staffing and AIT throughput.
• Lead root-cause analyses for hardware anomalies and track corrective actions to closure.
