Job summary

BWXT in Idaho Falls seeks an Environmental/Waste Management professional to lead compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and to support waste characterization and disposal across NRF projects.

You will guide complex technical and regulatory challenges, provide guidance to colleagues, and interface with clients to ensure objectives are met while maintaining safety and radiological controls. This role requires U.S. citizenship and DOE clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant environmental and/or waste management experience.
• In‑depth expertise in environmental and waste management requirements and general knowledge of related technical and regulatory areas.
• Demonstrated ability to independently analyze and solve complex technical and regulatory problems using sound judgment.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and effectively work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees, supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sampling and analysis plans per SW-846 guidelines.
• Characterize waste and ensure disposal per RCRA/TSCA requirements.
• Maintain compliant documentation for PCB, hazardous, radioactive, and other wastes.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on environmental and waste management issues.
• Interface with clients to meet NRF environmental and waste management objectives.
• Lead projects or activities with moderate resource requirements and complexity.
• Support development of procedures to integrate requirements into work documents.
