Job summary

Oklo is seeking a Radiological Waste Engineering Lead for Idaho Falls or Remote work to drive waste management strategy across advanced reactor programs and isotope facilities. You will shape design approaches, regulatory interfaces, and lifecycle waste disposition in a fast-moving startup environment.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in radioactive waste engineering, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while delivering clear technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in radioactive waste engineering, fuel cycle engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of radioactive waste classification and characterization.
• Experience with waste treatment and disposal pathways and regulatory interfaces.
• Experience preparing technical engineering documentation and communicating results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise-wide radioactive waste management strategies for reactors, fuel recycling, isotope facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Lead waste system designs from concept to detailed design.
• Define waste characterization methodologies and acceptance criteria for disposal facilities.
• Develop transport, packaging, storage, and disposal strategies for waste streams.
• Lead reviews of waste system designs and coordinate with vendors and regulators.
