Job Description

An award-winning consulting engineering firm located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey is seeking a mid-level candidate with 3 or more years of experience to join our growing environmental/hazmat team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct investigations and sampling of suspect materials for asbestos and other hazardous substances, and prepare investigation reports.
2. Assist Project Manager with management of asbestos abatement oversight projects and QC visits.
3. Develop and review abatement and remediation plans and specifications; ability to read architectural and mechanical drawings.
4. Work effectively under deadlines.
5. Operate both in the office and in the field.
6. Wear personal protective equipment when working in hazardous conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Current NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator license and NYS Asbestos Inspector certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in asbestos inspections/investigations with knowledge of applicable regulations for New York State and New York City.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• OSHA 10-hr. and OSHA 30-hr. Construction Safety certifications.
• Additional certifications such as NYSDOL Project Monitor, Designer, Mold Assessor, and EPA Lead Inspector are a plus.
• Knowledge of CAD is a plus.

Salary Range

The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000.
