Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants in Salt Lake City is seeking a Lead Environmental Scientist to lead natural resources studies, permitting, and regulatory compliance across diverse projects in energy, transportation, and restoration. You will mentor staff and coordinate with clients and agencies to ensure technical excellence.

As a senior technical leader, you will manage complex field programs, oversee deliverables, and contribute to business development while traveling regionally as needed to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Wetland Science, Plant/Soil Science, Ecology or related environmental science.
• Six (6) years leading natural resources projects in private or regulatory settings.
• Experience with USFWS, BLM, USACE, USFS or equivalent agencies in the Great Basin region.
• Ability to travel regionally for fieldwork and client meetings.
• Ability to mentor staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic project leadership and quality oversight for complex natural resources studies.
• Lead permitting, compliance, and environmental assessment initiatives.
• Develop budgets, scopes of work, and schedules from feasibility to final reports.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, and team members to deliver projects.
• Support business development and client relationships in the region.
