Job summary

State of California is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) to lead the review of Caltrans operations across Region 6 and independently resolve issues, draft Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreements, and prepare CESA-related permits and authorizations under CEQA and related laws.

The role involves complex environmental reviews, interagency coordination, and ensuring compliance with environmental statutes. Telework may be available, with in-person days required.

Responsibilities

• Lead responsibility for review of Caltrans operations throughout Region 6 and independently identify problems, develop courses of action, and perform work to draft Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Agreements, and species take permits and authorizations under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA).
• Provide complex guidance, environmental reviews, analyses, and preparation of CEQA, CESA, LSA, and other environmental documents.
• Coordinate with Caltrans Districts and the CDFW liaison to assign and prioritize work.
