Practical Applications seeks an experienced Senior Environmental Specialist / Project Manager to lead industrial pretreatment permitting and compliance projects for municipal and industrial clients throughout New England. You will serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor while managing complex regulatory programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–15 years of experience in environmental consulting, wastewater compliance, or pretreatment program management.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA Pretreatment Regulations (40 CFR Part 403), NPDES permitting, and related regulations.
  • Experience with municipal pretreatment programs and industrial facilities.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage municipal and industrial pretreatment program projects from proposal through completion.
  • Prepare and review industrial discharge permits and permit modifications.
  • Conduct SIU inspections and compliance evaluations.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local pretreatment regulations.
  • Develop permitting strategies and compliance plans for industrial clients.
  • Support POTW pretreatment program implementation and optimization.
  • Review industrial wastewater treatment operations and monitoring programs.
  • Prepare technical reports, compliance assessments, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipal officials, and industrial facilities.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Support proposal development and business growth initiatives.
