Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner - Transmission to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting team. This hybrid role can be based in multiple Midwest offices, including Indianapolis and Chicago, with preference for the Midwest region.

You will lead environmental planning, pursue energy permitting opportunities, and manage multi-jurisdictional projects from siting through NEPA documentation, engaging with clients and regulators across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, natural resources, engineering, or related field.
• 6 years of relevant experience in electric transmission and renewable energy permitting.
• Ability to travel for agency/client meetings as needed.
• U.S. citizenship is required; a valid U.S. driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental planning and compliance efforts for energy infrastructure projects, coordinating with state agencies.
• Manage early-stage due diligence for siting energy projects and related infrastructure.
• Provide project management, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and client coordination.
• Prepare environmental documents and entitlements for energy projects.
• Support Midwest and other U.S. markets using AE COM's national platform.
• Contribute to proposals, marketing, and cost estimates as a seller-doer.
• Mentor junior staff and review work products.
