CSA Group in New York is seeking a seasoned Environmental Planning Lead to direct complex environmental review projects and ensure regulatory compliance. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and support growth initiatives across projects in urban environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing environmental review projects.
  • AICP and NJ Planner certification a plus.
  • Experience with NEPA, SEQRA, CEQR.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental review projects requiring compliance with NEPA, SEQRA, CEQR, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the preparation and review of environmental assessments, impact statements, planning studies, and permits.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and financial performance for successful delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, agencies, and stakeholders while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Support business development through proposals, outreach, and marketing initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure quality and consistency of deliverables.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering collaboration and growth.

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance on environmental review projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and consistency of deliverables.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff, fostering a collaborative work environment and supporting recruiting, training, and professional growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across CSA Group to support project delivery, client service, and achievement of business objectives.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing environmental review projects and programs.
  • AICP and New Jersey Professional Planner certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with NEPA, SEQRA, and CEQR compliance.
  • Strong project, financial, and client management experience, familiarity with VantagePoint a plus.
  • Experience managing environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
  • Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
