Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Technical Director, Environmental Scientist, to lead environmental planning and permitting for major New Jersey infrastructure projects from Lawrenceville, NJ. You will guide strategies, coordinate with agencies, and mentor staff while expanding WSP's New Jersey permitting practice.

You will oversee complex multidisciplinary assignments, manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships, and support proposals and business growth with project teams across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning, biology, ecology or natural resources.
• Progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting or permitting.
• Leadership of complex environmental permitting projects in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for NJ environmental planning, permitting, and natural resource assessments.
• Develop permitting strategies for transportation, electric transmission, pipelines, and renewable energy projects.
• Lead regulatory coordination with NJDEP, USACE, USFWS, and other agencies.
• Direct wetland, stream, flood hazard, and endangered species assessments.
• Review plans and advise on environmental risks, regulatory requirements, avoidance measures, and schedules.
• Oversee preparation of permit applications, environmental reports, and agency materials.
• Serve as Project Director, Project Manager, or senior adviser on complex multidisciplinary assignments.
• Mentor environmental scientists, planners, biologists, and permitting professionals.
