Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Project Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist to join our Southern California Environmental Compliance team. You will manage environmental compliance and permitting projects across air, stormwater, and waste programs, support site assessments and remediation for diverse clients, and lead a multidisciplinary team.

You will oversee proposal development, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting with a strong background in environmental compliance and working knowledge of environmental investigations and remediation.
• Professional certification preferred (PG, PE, QISP, CHMM, or similar).
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing environmental compliance, site investigation, remediation, and waste management programs.
• Experience supporting or managing environmental due diligence, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, environmental investigations, corrective action programs, or remediation projects.
• Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques, data evaluation, and preparation of technical reports.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage complex environmental projects, including performing senior-level technical analysis and review.
• Develop environmental permitting and regulatory strategies for a variety of projects.
• Manage the preparation and submission of permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media.
• Prepare and submit responses to Notices of Violation and negotiate permit requirements with regulatory agencies.
• Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews.
• Manage and perform environmental due diligence and ESAs, site investigations, and remediation programs.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee environmental investigations involving soil, groundwater, and air sampling.
• Interpret environmental data and prepare technical reports and remediation planning documents.
• Interface with regulatory agencies regarding compliance obligations and closure requirements.
• Lead and develop a team of environmental professionals; oversee junior staff.
