Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks a Project Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist to join our Environmental Compliance team in Southern California. The role manages environmental compliance projects, including permitting, audits, and site investigations, across industrial, commercial, energy, and development clients.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, develop regulatory strategies, and coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of environmental consulting experience with a focus on compliance.
• Professional certification preferred (PG, PE, QISP, CHMM, or similar).
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing compliance, site investigation, remediation, and waste programs.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage complex environmental projects.
• Develop permitting and regulatory strategies for various projects.
• Prepare and submit permits and compliance programs for air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, and storage tanks.
• Prepare responses to Notices of Violation and negotiate permit requirements with agencies.
• Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews.
• Manage ESAs, site investigations, and due diligence projects.
• Plan and oversee investigations including soil, groundwater, sediment, and indoor air sampling.
• Interpret data and prepare technical reports and remediation planning documents.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and coordinate with cross-location teams.
• Support proposals, scope and fee development, and business development.
