Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. seeks an Environmental Manager to provide advanced leadership for siting, permitting, and environmental studies on electric transmission projects in North Carolina.

The role includes budget and schedule management, client and regulatory coordination, business development, and staff supervision. The successful candidate will guide multi-disciplinary teams, ensure quality deliverables, and drive safety and compliance across all project tasks.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience directly related to the outlined essential duties.
• Strong technical writing ability.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Comfortable in a multi-disciplinary work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
• Lead environmental resource investigations and prepare permit applications and reports.
• Permitting experience in North Carolina is essential.
• Manage budgets, scopes, schedules and deliverables for projects.
• Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Oversee technical investigations including wetlands, endangered species surveys, and inspections.
• Drive business development and proposal preparation.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
• Supervise staff and mentor junior team members.
• Travel as needed (approx. monthly) to project locations and client sites.
• Lead safety protocol implementation and compliance.
