Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Project Technical Leader to drive the technical vision of complex water and wastewater projects from Raleigh, Charlotte, or Wilmington. You will coordinate design content, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with the PM to deliver high‑quality solutions.

This role requires a Civil/Environmental/Chemical engineering degree, PE license, and about 10 years of related experience, with 20–40% travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineer (PE) license.
10 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

Creates water and wastewater treatment facilities, water/sewer systems, pipelines and pump stations with basic to high complexity designs.
Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with regulations and signs off on completed designs.
Updates design requirements to align with location specifications.
Contributes to knowledge management with technical papers and designs for publication.
Collaborates with sales staff to prepare proposals in response to RFPs.
Meets with clients to review design needs and attends conferences to promote services.
Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff and may supervise engineers.
Performs other duties as required.
