Job summary

NV5 seeks a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our New York City team, providing technical leadership on environmental compliance and engineering solutions for major infrastructure projects, including City of New York involvement. This role blends technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement.

You will lead stormwater management programs, advance coastal resiliency design practices, review ESAs, and ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field, MS preferred.
• NY State PE license required.
• 8+ years of environmental engineering experience with stormwater and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with Phase I/II ESA and environmental permitting.
• ArcGIS experience is a plus; AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
• ENV SP and WEDG credentials preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead stormwater management programs and coastal resiliency design.
• Review ESAs and ensure regulatory compliance for major projects.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Serve as client liaison to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Develop SWPPPs in line with NYC DEP/NYDEC regulations and oversee inspections.
