Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking an Sr Environmental Engineer to provide technical leadership for environmental programs. You will assess risk, develop regulatory documentation, and guide site management on compliance issues while overseeing complex environmental projects.

You will inspect sites, manage contracts with vendors, and contribute to strategic planning and budgeting for environmental systems, ensuring safety and regulatory adherence across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of engineering experience in Environmental Management, including project management.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or related field with three years of Environmental Management experience, including project management.
• Certification or licensure such as HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, or CHMM may be required or preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigation and reporting protocols.
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Skill in managing large or complex environmental projects.
• Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
• Ability to analyze soil, water and air samples to recognize potential environmental hazards.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering technical expertise, guidance and leadership for environmental projects and programs.
• Determine and assess environmental risk and develop regulatory documentation of results.
• Perform site inspections and recommend actions in compliance with regulations.
• Review and develop recommendations regarding expansion, modification or closure of facilities affecting discharges and hazardous materials.
• Serve as Project Manager or technical expert on large or complex environmental projects.
• Evaluate contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
• Provide guidance to site management on programs and regulations.
• Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting for environmental systems and issues.
