Job summary

PBF Energy is seeking a Sr. Environmental Engineer for the Toledo Refinery in Oregon, OH. The role emphasizes air compliance, permitting, and regulatory engagement to drive environmental performance.

The ideal candidate will oversee MACT programs, emissions monitoring, and reporting, develop regulatory-compliant strategies, and guide refinery staff in environmental procedures to ensure day-to-day conformity and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Environmental or related Engineering required.
• Experience with federal air regulations, including PSD/NSR, CAA, NESHAP, and MACT is required.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in environmental, refining, petrochemical or chemical industry preferred.
• Proficient with Excel and MS Office suite.
• Knowledge of Ohio and US EPA work processes preferred; familiarity with Ohio EPA CDX and US EPA CDX is a plus.
• Ability to work with minimal oversight and in a team environment; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee refinery air permitting and compliance, emissions monitoring, and MACT reporting.
• Serve as SME for Title 5 Air Operating Permit negotiation and implementation.
• Develop compliance programs for new and emerging regulatory initiatives.
• Prepare permit evaluations and applications with project teams.
• Provide environmental training to refinery personnel and contractors.
