Job summary

PBF Energy is seeking a Sr. Environmental Engineer for our Toledo Refinery in Oregon, OH to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations.

The role focuses on air compliance, permitting, emissions monitoring, and reporting, while collaborating with regulatory agencies and internal teams. Qualifications include a BS in Chemical/Environmental Engineering and at least 8 years of industry experience, with strong Excel skills and knowledge of EPA processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Environmental or related Engineering field is required.
• Experience with federal air regulations, including PSD/NSR, CAA, NESHAP, and MACT is required.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in environmental, refining, petrochemical or chemical industry preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel and MS Office programs required.
• Knowledge of Ohio and US EPA work processes; familiarity with Ohio EPA eBusiness Center and US EPA CDX is a plus.
• Initiative to work with minimal oversight and to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee refinery air permitting and compliance, emissions monitoring (CEMS), and emissions source testing (Stack and RATA) programs, MACT compliance and reporting, and related environmental reporting.
• Serve as subject matter expert for Title 5 Air Operating Permit negotiations and implementations.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and trade organizations on proposed rule makings and responses.
• Develop compliance programs for new and emerging regulatory initiatives.
• Perform legally required duties such as regulatory inspections, rule research, data collection and reporting.
• Support refinery in meeting environmental objectives and goals.
• Be the primary contact for regulatory agencies in air compliance and evaluate facility projects for regulatory applicability.
• Review MOC’s and procedures, participate in safety audits, and train refinery personnel and contractors.
• Participate in on-call rotations and represent the Environmental Department in internal/external meetings.
