Job summary

Our Partner in Texas is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to lead environmental qualification testing and regulatory compliance for aerospace/defense electronics. This hands-on role focuses on developing test methodologies, overseeing test execution, analyzing results, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure hardware withstands demanding environments.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in aerospace/defense environmental engineering, deep MIL-STD knowledge, RoHS/REACH

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hands-on experience in environmental engineering within aerospace or defense.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Mechanical/Electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Strong experience with environmental qualification testing of aerospace/defense electronics.
• In-depth knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.
• Experience with EMI, EMC testing and mitigation.
• Hands-on experience setting up and conducting environmental testing in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve environmental qualification test plans, procedures, and reports for aerospace and defense hardware.
• Design and implement environmental stress screening programs to identify latent defects in production electronics.
• Plan and oversee testing involving shock, vibration, temperature, altitude, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
• Lead hands-on laboratory test setups, including instrumentation, sensors, data collection, and monitoring of hardware performance.
• Investigate failures identified during environmental testing and work with design engineers to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Partner closely with electrical, mechanical, and other engineering teams throughout the product development and qualification process.
