Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company seeks a Senior Environmental & Construction Defect Claims Specialist to manage highly complex claims portfolios. The role emphasizes building strong relationships with agents and policyholders, thorough investigation, and strategic resolutions.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in environmental and toxic tort claims, with a background in litigated files and coordinating defense counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate preferred.
• 10 years of commercial claims experience, including 7 years with moderate to high complexity and exposure environmental and toxic tort claims, and 5 years handling litigated files and directing outside defense and coverage counsel.
• Construction defect claims handling experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Directly handle an assigned portfolio of environmental, toxic tort, and construction defect claims with high complexity and exposure across jurisdictions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and policyholders through clear communication and thorough file documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive investigation and evaluation on coverage, liability, and damages throughout the life of the claim.
• Adjust loss reserves as needed based on new information to reflect probable ultimate exposure.
• Participate in mediations, settlements, and trials as needed.
• Negotiate settlements and monitor outside defense and coverage counsel.
