Job summary

Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Environmental & Construction Defect Claims Specialist. The role handles a portfolio of high-complexity environmental, toxic tort, and construction defect claims with oversight across jurisdictions.

The position is remote, with travel up to 20% as needed. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in commercial claims, including 7 years in high-complexity environmental/toxic tort, and 5 years handling litigated files, with JD preferred and eligibility

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate preferred.
• 10 years of commercial claims experience, including 7 years with moderate to high complexity environmental and toxic tort claims, and 5 years handling litigated files.
• Experience in multiple jurisdictions and ability to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Directly handle an assigned portfolio of environmental, toxic tort, and construction defect claims presenting high complexity and exposure across multiple jurisdictions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and policyholders through inclusive, communicative, accessible file documentation.
• Conduct relevant investigation and evaluation on coverage, liability, and damages throughout the life of the claim by analyzing material facts and developments.
• Positively influence claims outcomes through developing, adjusting, and executing action plans to achieve resolutions.
• Identify and pursue early resolution when appropriate.
• Identify and evaluate risk transfer.
• Proactively establish and adjust loss reserves as information evolves.
• Report on and present large losses during conferences and reviews.
• Provide technical oversight as needed and serve as a SME for high severity claims.
• Participate in mediations and settlements and attend trials.
• Negotiate settlements and monitor costs.
• Maintain knowledge of multijurisdictional legal and regulatory trends.
