Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an Environmental Coordinator Senior to lead the implementation of environmental compliance programs across designated regions, plants, and projects. You will guide staff on requirements, coordinate with Environmental Services, and ensure regulatory adherence.

You’ll oversee training, incident responses, and documentation while working with contractors and external parties to meet corporate environmental goals. Strong communication and autonomous work are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate or Bachelor's degree in environmental, science, or related discipline.
• Minimum eight years of environmental experience with an associate degree; six years with a bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement environmental activities and policies in the assigned region to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
• Provide training and assistance on environmental requirements and develop training materials.
• Support in releases or discharges of regulated substances including agency notifications and cleanup coordination.
• Promote safe work practices to safeguard employees and the public.
• Support during environmental compliance reviews and site assessments.
• Coordinate public inquiries and communicate environmental issues to internal parties.
• Develop and maintain environmental documents and records per standards.
• Review regional disposal contracts and manage related Environmental Services contracts.
