Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an Environmental Coordinator Senior to coordinate the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies within their region, plant and project scope.

You will train and advise business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental requirements and coordinate with Environmental Services and external parties to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelors degree in an environmental, science, or related discipline.
• Minimum of eight years of environmental experience with an associate degree.
• Six years of environmental experience with a bachelors degree.
• Valid drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement all environmental activities and policies in the assigned region to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals.
• Provide training, instruction and assistance to others on the implementation of environmental requirements and assist in the development of environmental training materials.
• Provide support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.
• Provide support during environmental compliance reviews, Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects.
• Coordinate and respond to public inquiries regarding environmental matters and effectively communicate environmental compliance issues to appropriate internal parties.
• Develop and maintain environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards.
• Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities and manage contracts associated with Environmental Services.
