Job summary

The City of Pompano Beach is seeking an advanced professional to oversee environmental compliance and regulatory programs in the Utilities Department. The role requires leadership of laboratory operations, safety, conservation initiatives, and related regulatory reporting across federal, state, and local agencies.

Responsibilities include directing an NELAC-certified lab, supervising staff, ensuring QA/QC, and coordinating with regulatory agencies to support long-range planning and operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science or closely related field.
• Master's degree preferred in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• Five years in Utilities laboratory and compliance management with supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate environmental compliance, laboratory, safety, outreach, conservation, and regulatory programs for the Utilities Department.
• Direct the operations of an NELAC-certified laboratory, including QA/QC, accreditation, proficiency testing, and Quality System Manual.
• Supervise staff, assign work, conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and promote safe, ethical practices.
• Develop and oversee sampling, monitoring, testing, and data validation for regulatory reporting.
• Oversee regulatory and operational programs including cross-connection control, water loss, pretreatment, public notices, and outreach.
