Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to oversee the environmental compliance of utilities permits, IPP and Cross Connection programs, advising the public on regulations and initiating enforcement actions.

You will collect data, manage files, perform basic data analysis, and coordinate site inspections, with responsibilities to maintain records and collaborate with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience with utility-related water and wastewater regulatory cross-connection programs.
• Industrial Pretreatment “C” level Certification or the ability to obtain within one year in the position.
• Strong research, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review new legislation for impact on ordinances and policies.
• Assist with cross-connection control and IPP enforcement.
• Coordinate site inspections of storage facilities and industrial users.
• Explain ordinances and rules to the public via various media.
• Maintain Cross Connection Control Program Backflow Tracking System.
• Maintain records and inspections for IPP, Tanks Program, Well-field Protection, Storm Water, Backflow for yearly audit.
• Attend inspections by DERM regarding IPP and Backflow.
• Ensure programs comply with environmental regulations and standards.
• Collect samples from industrial users.
• Inspect facilities for compliance with secondary containment for storage of hazardous materials.
