Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. seeks a Senior Environmental Engineer to lead environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability across mining, aggregates, asphalt, and building materials production.

You will act as the primary liaison with regulators, ensuring sites operate within the law while minimizing environmental footprint. The role requires independence, mentorship to junior staff, and guidance to Plant Managers on water discharge, oil storage, and waste management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field such as Environmental or Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years in Environmental Compliance in mining/aggregates/heavy construction industries.
• Experience with permits and regulatory reporting (Air, NPDES, SPCC, SWPPP).

Responsibilities

• Administer the full lifecycle of environmental permits (Air Quality, NPDES, Water Rights, US Army Corps, Wetlands, Endangered Species).
• Lead the development and implementation of SWPPP and SPCC plans.
• Manage timely submission of regulatory reports (DMRs, annual emissions inventories).
• Build relationships with regulators and represent the company at hearings and permit actions.
• Provide guidance to Plant Managers on water discharge, oil storage, and waste management.
• Serve as technical lead for environmental incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Support property acquisitions by managing Phase I/II investigations and remediation oversight.
• Coordinate with land management for mining reclamation to meet permit requirements.
