Job summary

San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association (SBCERA) is seeking an Enterprise Systems Engineer to lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of our on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud IT infrastructure. The role combines hands‑on engineering with strategic planning, focusing on security, reliability, and performance to support SBCERA’s mission for 50,000+ members.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related field.
At least 4 years of server administration experience.
Desirable certifications in Azure, Microsoft 365, or related areas.
California driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage scalable enterprise IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud.
Lead data center and cloud services, incl. AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Develop enterprise backup, HA/DR strategies for mission‑critical systems.
Manage OS environments: Windows Server, Linux, macOS.
Administer virtualized environments (VMware/Hyper‑V).
Oversee enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and cloud storage.
Provide monitoring/observability with SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog, Nagios, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor.
Support cybersecurity threats and ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001).
Troubleshoot complex hardware/software/network issues and document solutions.
