Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Actuation Division seeks a Software Development Engineer Architect to define software architecture, guide strategy, and deliver scalable, secure software across major programs in Gastonia, NC. You will mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and align software direction with business goals.

The role requires 12–15+ years of experience, strong leadership, and expertise in architecture, systems integration, and design patterns, with a focus on regulatory and cybersecurity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12–15+ years of software engineering experience with leadership responsibility.
• Expert in software architecture, systems integration, design patterns, and large-scale development.
• Experience across distributed systems, embedded platforms, or multi-layer software environments.
• Strong programming languages and lifecycle management practices.
• Experience defining software strategy and roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, including exec-level interactions.
• Knowledge of regulatory, cybersecurity, or compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-level software architecture, design strategy, and long-term platform planning to support complex product and system initiatives.
• Direct development, integration, testing, and optimization of advanced software solutions while ensuring alignment with performance, security, and reliability requirements.
• Identify and resolve system-wide software risks, drive modernization, automation, and tooling improvements, and guide adoption of new technologies and engineering frameworks.
• Oversee cross-functional collaboration with hardware, systems, and product teams to translate program objectives into technical roadmaps.
• Mentor senior technical staff, support customer and regulatory engagements, and inform organizational strategy with forward-looking software engineering insight.
