Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Semantic AI Engineer to design and deploy AI-driven semantic solutions that integrate enterprise ontologies into EOS for use in platforms like EPMD and Dataverse. You will create reusable components, APIs, and tools enabling data integration and reliable delivery within a cross-functional team.

You will work with platform, data, governance, and ontology teams to ensure alignment with business requirements and GxP/compliance where relevant, while applying FAIR data principles

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years experience or Master’s with 4+ years experience.
• Experience building production-quality data, software, AI, or semantic technology solutions (APIs, tools, or reusable components).
• Knowledge of ontologies, vocabularies, knowledge graphs, semantic standards (OWL, RDF, SPARQL).
• Ability to translate governance requirements into scalable designs for semantic assets.

Responsibilities

• Design and operationalize AI-driven semantic solutions that embed ontologies and semantic assets into enterprise platforms via EOS.
• Translate ontologies, vocabularies, mappings, and semantic contracts into consumable services and APIs.
• Enable inference, search, normalization, and data integration across enterprise workflows.
• Define implementation patterns and quality gates aligned with FAIR data principles for SHIFT-generated assets.
