Job summary

Anne Arundel County in Maryland seeks a senior network engineer to lead hands‑on design, deployment, and operation of the county’s enterprise network. You will draft configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, and NAC, deploy Cisco ISE, 802.1X, and manage wireless networks and VPNs.

The role requires Tier 4 incident resolution, project leadership, site surveys, heat mapping, and collaboration with field technicians and vendors to ensure high availability and secure infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, public or business administration, or related field with EDP training.
• Six+ years of experience in electronic data processing systems analysis and design.

Responsibilities

• Build and validate configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, and NAC per standard templates.
• Deploy and maintain Cisco ISE and NAC policies (MAB, RADIUS/TACACS+) to control wired and wireless access.
• Design and optimize enterprise wireless networks, including RF tuning, coverage mapping, and guest controls.
• Configure IPsec/GRE VPNs, SSL certificates, firewall rules; submit changes through formal review processes before deployment.
• Provide Tier 4 support to diagnose complex enterprise outages and vendor escalations.
• Maintain high availability with firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements during maintenance windows.
