Job summary

Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel is seeking a senior network engineer to lead hands-on engineering, configuration, and operational support of the county's enterprise network infrastructure.

You will draft, build, and validate device configurations for routers, switches, firewalls, NAC systems, and wireless networks, aligning with security standards. Expect Tier 4 troubleshooting, network upgrades, and multi-phased IT project leadership.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major work in a related field and specialized training in electronic data processing, programming, operations, and methodologies.
• Candidates should have up to 10 years of experience in electronic data processing systems analysis and design as noted in the supplemental qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Build and validate configurations for enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, optical gear, wireless LAN controllers, and access points using standard templates.
• Deploy and maintain Cisco ISE, 802.1X port security, and NAC policies to control wired and wireless access.
• Design and optimize enterprise wireless networks, managing SSID profiles, RF tuning, coverage, and guest/internal controls.
• Configure IPsec/GRE VPNs, SSL certificates, firewall rules, and ACLs; submit changes through formal review before deployment.
• Provide Tier 4 support to diagnose complex outages, vendor escalations, and root-cause analysis.
