Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an Enterprise MBD and Design for Excellence (DFx) Engineer to implement model-based definitions across the enterprise. You will work with Creo and Windchill, ensure GD&T conformance, and partner with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to embed DFx into design practices.

The role emphasizes collaboration, systems thinking, and hands-on coaching to engineers and designers, with opportunities to develop automated checks and AI-enabled tooling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering design, systems engineering, or model-based definition experience
  • Advanced Creo proficiency with MBD annotation and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Strong Windchill proficiency including PLM, configuration management, and release workflows
  • Familiarity with DFx principles (DFM/ DFA) and downstream impact
  • Knowledge of MBD standards (ASME Y14.41, Y14.100, ISO 16792, STEP AP242, QIF) and stakeholder requirements
  • Experience creating training, guides, or user documentation for engineering tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work across diverse teams
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve MBD standards, templates, and instructions for parts, assemblies, and installations
  • Translate engineering needs into clear Creo/Windchill authoring guidelines
  • Improve machine-readability of product definitions and integrate MBD with PLM
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Inspection, Supply Chain to define downstream needs
  • Assess producibility early in the design cycle and participate in design reviews
  • Capture lessons learned and translate into design rules and training
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort with Creo customizations and tooling
  • Support responsible use of AI for engineering guidance and validation
  • Provide hands-on coaching and develop training materials for users
  • Represent MBD and DFx in working groups and communities of practice
  • Translate feedback into improvements to standards, processes, tools, and training
